Bucking V Outfit is a small horse breeding operation
in Montana. We are located south of Billings on the Crow Indian Reservation.
We raise a few foundation bred AQHA cowhorses and a few rare ranch-type
hypoallergenic North American Curly Horses. We sell horses all over North
America & Europe.
Our Montana ranch horses are primarily range bred &
raised. They grow & mature slowly, and are naturally well socialized.
We select for those between-the-ear traits: friendliness, intelligence,
trainability & cow. We are absolutely UNCOMPROMISING when it comes to
temperament. Our stallions must behave like geldings in public. When guest
ranching, we put green dudes on our green studs. Safely. That says a mouthful.
In fact throughout my website, individual horse descriptions usually do not
mention their temperament, because that should go without saying. That is
their first qualification for being here to begin with. There are too many
good horses around to put up with, or certainly to breed, any silly horses.
Our horses carry Joe Hancock, Blue Valentine, Mr Roan
Hancock, Lynx Nomad and other working cowhorse bloodlines.
We breed rugged, athletic, true using ranch cowhorses.
For years we have been selecting & breeding horses that are tough &
easy keeping, with athletic ability, big bone, ample feet, excellent
conformation, with lots of size and muscling. Donna comes from competitive
AQHA judging background, so we also appreciate pretty horses. We want to
be comfortable riding all day, and do a day's work on. We want horses that
we can rope off of. We want horses that can rustle for themselves, and take
care of themselves when turned out. We want horses that we are proud of,
and look good on. And, horses we feel personally connected to; partners with
personality. After all those good qualities, we then strive to produce roan,
blue roan, grulla (grullo), & dun colors on top.

Lynx Copper Crescent
2005 - 2006. We have reduced numbers from over
100 ranch horses (in 1998) down to our last few head, a "Last Stand" band
of solid quality foundation bred Quarter Horse mares, with one AQHA stallion
prospect. Being forced to severely downsize, the advantage has been two-fold:
We have shared good genetics with a lot of other good folks out there, &
met lots of wonderful people. And we have narrowed our focus down to our
absolute last few favorites - the ones that have worked most consistently
& successfully for us over the years.
2006 - 2007. Our roan Hancock mares are currently
being leased by Promised Land Ranch in Eastern Washington. Look for some
mighty good foals to be produced there. Our only AQHA mares are Twister,
who produces phenomenal foals, and we retained breeding rights when we sold
Cowgirl. Cowgirl got late in her foaling schedule, so we let her skip a year,
and won't breed her until this spring 2007. By then, we should know more
about Red Apache, and feel confident about breeding him. Then in a couple
years, Joel will send us back our Hancock mares. Til then, we will most likely
use our last couple AQHA mares to continue to improve our hypoallergenic
Curly ranch horses Then when the roan Hancock mares come home, we will be
back in business again, hopefully with a proven stallion by then.
